WHY THE NAME CHANGE?

The popular video game franchise FIFA will be renamed EA Sports FC after Electronic Arts Inc. failed to reach a new licensing agreement with the FIFA.

Allegedly the FIFA requested $1 billion for the naming rights.

EA promises that this change will not negatively impact what’s available in the game.

Everything you love about our games will be part of EA SPORTS FC – the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes will be there. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums, and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in EA SPORTS FC. That includes exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS – and more to come.

HYPERMOTION V

EA Sports unveils the game-changing HyperMotion V technology, which is most likely the most impactful addition to the series. It's a combination of motion capturing and machine learning that leads to way more animations and realistic gameplay. It's all about improving how players move.

Volumetric Capture

With Volumetric Capture (V = Volumetric), EA aims to get the realism to new heights by directly extracting animations from recordings of real football games, eliminating the need for cumbersome motion capturing suits. This is quite groundbreaking, because it enables a continuous flow of new, authentic animations inspired by real-life football matches. So far the animations are based on 1.3 billion frames of data.

HyperMotion V includes multiple interesting sub-technologies: AI Mimic, Accelerate 2.0, True Flight Ball Physics, Kinetic Physical Play and AI Hands.

AI Mimic

AI Mimic brings the real-world volumetric data of footballers to life through advanced artificial intelligence, offering an authentic recreation of their distinct body movements in EA SPORTS FC 24. AI Mimic includes the signature movements of over 1,200 top footballers in The World's Game.

11,000 Animations

EA FC 24 offers nearly twice as many true-to-football animations as FIFA 23.

AcceleRATE 2.0

With AcceleRATE 2.0, EA has taken the player movement system to the next level, introducing a broader range of distinct archetypes.

Next to Lengthy, Controlled and Explosive, there are now four new intermediate run styles: Controlled Explosive, Mostly Explosive, Controlled Lengthy and Mostly Lengthy.

The types are assigned automatically based on a combination of players' Acceleration, Height, Agility, and Strength Attributes.

Ball Physics

In a game that is about kicking a ball into a goal, not only the player movement matters, but also how the ball moves.

AI True Flight Ball Physics utilizes artificial intelligence to replicate the natural dips, swerves, and soaring movements you can see in real matches.

Kinetic Physical Play

FIFA 22 introduced two-player header battles, in FIFA 23 goalkeeper header battles were added and now in FC 24 new 2-players shielding animations use the same technology.

In Shield Pushbacks the effectiveness of the shielder is determined by the difference in Strength between the players. Shielding becomes less effective the longer you do it and stronger players can sustain good shielding for a longer period than weaker players.

AI Hands

Maybe hands are not the most important factor in a game literally called football, but players do have hands, so it's another step towards realism to make them move more naturally. StretchSense gloves elevate hand motion capture to emulate footballers' hand, wrist, and finger motions

PLAYSTYLES

PlayStyles is a revamped system that replaces the Trait System, bringing a fresh approach to how players' distinct skills are portrayed in the game. Each PlayStyle affects gameplay, giving players unique abilities that feel authentic to their style of play. PlayStyles+ take it a step further, enhancing elite players' signature abilities to an exceptional level.

Overhaul Of Traits

PlayStyles represent a new dimension in the game, emphasizing the way individual players excel on the field. Each PlayStyle offers unique gameplay enhancements, making players stand out for their authentic style of play. The PlayStyles are further divided into two tiers: PlayStyles and PlayStyles+. PlayStyles define what makes players unique, while PlayStyles+ take their signature abilities from special to spectacular. For example, players with a defensive PlayStyle unlock the Stop Ball Tackle, a new feature introduced in EA FC 24, providing a clean dispossessing motion and the perfect opportunity for a counterattack.

In total, there are 34 brand new PlayStyles in EA FC 24, covering every aspect of the game. They make players more unique and align them with their real-life tendencies and signature moves. Whether it's Haaland's power header, acrobatic shot, and power shot combination, Son's finesse shot, Vini Jr.'s rapid dribbling, or Bellingham's passing, each favorite player boasts a distinct combination of PlayStyles that truly define their gameplay style.

PlayStyles are featured in all game modes, allowing players to make their Pro more unique in Clubs, create the perfect Ultimate Team, and personalize their player in Player Career, making them play just the way they want.

ATMOSPHERE & GRAPHICS

This years atmosphere improvements are more realistic lighting, better cloth physics, immersive audio and an upgraded pre-game presentation.

Realism

Players will see more lifelike and athletic body types, making virtual footballers feel more authentic. GPU cloth technology improves visual details in player animations.

Lighting

The game's lighting system has been upgraded to provide a visually stunning experience. Feature lighting adds depth and vibrancy to the gameplay environment. Improved stadium lights, fog effects, and light shows within FUT make each match feel unique and immersive.

Audio

FC 24 offers a more lively stadium atmosphere with better crowd sounds and reactions. Players will hear drums and cheers more distinctly when the camera is near the fans. A secondary set of commentators is also added to the game.

Presentation

Dynamic match intros provide better narratives to build excitement for each game. Most importantly they are short, so you don't need to sit through endless cut-scenes when your opponent isn't skipping them. HyperMotion Insight Overlays show in-depth statistics during play and replays, such as shots on target and possession. These improvements create a more broadcast-like experience and elevate the overall gameplay enjoyment.

MORE ATTACKING CHANGES

Precision Shooting

This new feature rewards your aiming skills with increased accuracy when shooting. It's a rework of the Semi-Assisted shooting. You can enable it in the settings under Shot Assistance. Get closer to the net for better accuracy, use the aiming indicator to see where you're aiming, and enjoy assistance with first-time shots near the 6-yard box. It's all about more rewarding and precise goal-scoring moments!

Precision Passing

Precision Passing introduces a skill-based passing mechanic that allows players to bend and shape the perfect pass with manual precision. When performing a Precision Pass, players can use different button combinations for specific pass types, such as R1 + ▲ (RB + Y) for a Precision Ground Pass or R1 + ■ (RB + X) for a Precision Lob Pass.

Adding swerve to the pass is possible by using L2 (LT) in combination with the respective buttons. This mechanic rewards players who can aim precisely and create their own space, adding a new level of skill to passing. The key attributes for successful Precision Passes are Long Passing and Short Passing, with Vision and Composure also contributing to a lesser extent, while Curve plays a role in swerve attempts, increasing the accuracy and quality of the passes.

Swerve On Demand

Swerve On Demand is another new passing mechanic. With Swerve On Demand, players gain the ability to curl their Ground, Through, and Precision Ground Passes, achieving passes never seen before in the game. Here are the instructions:

  • - Swerved Ground Pass: Press L2 + X (LT + A)
  • - Swerved Through Pass: Press L2 + ▲ (LT + Y)
  • - Swerved Precision Ground Pass: Press R1 + L2 + ▲ (RB + LT + Y)

It's essential to note that the power of the pass must exceed a minimum threshold (40) for Swerve On Demand to work effectively. The Curve attribute comes into play during the pass quality calculation, influencing the amount of curve the pass will have.

New Skill Moves

There are four new skill moves in EA FC 24. Here is how to perform them:

  • Ball Roll Drag (4 Star):
    • - Hold L1 + Flick RS Forward, Left/Right
    • - Hold LB + Flick RS Forward, Left/Right
  • Drag Back Turn (4 Star):
    • - Hold L2 + Hold RS Back
    • - Hold LT + Hold RS Back
  • Flair Nutmegs (4 Star):
    • - Hold L1 + R1 + Flick RS in a Direction
    • - Hold LB + RB + Flick RS in a Direction
  • Flair Rainbow (5 Star):
    • - Hold L1 + Flick RS Back, Forward
    • - Hold LB + Flick RS Back, Forward

Effort Dribble Touch

Effort Dribble Touch is a versatile attacking move that can be executed while dribbling or as your first touch. To perform it, press R1 + Right Stick (RB + Right Stick).

A quick flick will create a shorter distance knock on the ball, while holding the Right Stick will knock it a greater distance. It's also handy for canceling Passes and Shots, giving you more control and options during the game.

You can use it to swiftly maneuver the ball in any direction and prepare for your next move or to outmaneuver opponents.

Controlled Sprint

Controlled Sprint is a new dribbling speed that falls between Jog and full Sprinting. It allows for faster movement while keeping the ball closer to your player with more controlled touches. To perform Controlled Sprint, simply hold R1 (RB). Your player's Dribble and Sprint Speed attributes will influence your speed and ball control, so choose the right moment to unleash your controlled bursts of speed on the pitch.

MORE DEFENSIVE CHANGES

Advanced Defending

This is a new setting that reconfigures the defending buttons, giving players more control over their defensive actions. You now have the choice of requesting a Shoulder Challenge or Seal Out by pressing X (A) and a Stand Tackle by pressing O (B). Additionally, defensive improvements include new animations for Seal Outs and Shoulder Challenges, adding hundreds of new tackles, and improving their coverage and efficacy.

Defensive Positioning

In FC 24, defensive positioning has been enhanced with Zonal Defense. When using a depth higher than 45, players will mark opponents higher up the field and closer to the ball possessor to cut off potential passing lanes. However, this could create gaps for the attacking team to exploit if the initial press is broken. Moreover, pressure tactics, such as Constant Pressure, Pressure After Possession Loss, or Pressure on Heavy Touch, have undergone changes.

Goalkeeper

For goalkeepers, new Push Deflects and improved Tip Overs have been introduced to enhance their shot-saving abilities. The game now offers better detection of lobbed trajectory shots for Tip Over saves. Goalkeepers also benefit from new and refreshed animations for Saves with Feet, Diving Saves, Deflects, and Reflex Saves.

Player Switching

You can now customize your preferences for switching players. You can now adjust the Right Stick Switching Sensitivity to prioritize either the distance of the player or the angle of your input when selecting the next player. The Next Player Switching Preference offers three options: Nearest to Ball, Goal Side, and Classic, providing a more tailored player switching experience based on your playstyle.
