Question 1
Solution: Option C The opponent’s most dangerous pass is the CM (ball carrier) to the ST. The opponent would be able to play this pass within 1-2 touches and we’re too far away with our CM to press the ball (Option A) and we’re also too far away from the passing lane to cover the pass with the CM (Option B). So the best option is Option C, to switch early to the CB and step in front of the opponent’s ST to intercept.

Check OptionsQuestion 2
Solution: Option B The opponent’s most dangerous pass is again the CM (ball carrier) to the ST. However in this situation the opponent’s CM is not facing towards the ST so he will have to take some touches first to turn around before playing the pass. That being said Option B is the best option here, as we have time to position our CM in the passing lane. If we chose Option A and committed to pressing the ball, a good opponent would left stick dribble around us to find the passing to the ST. Option C is not ideal in this situation as we only want to step up our CB in last resort scenarios as it disrupts our defensive line and can create gaps between the CBs.
Question 3
Solution: Option A The opponent has just finished the ball roll animation and is in a position to pass. Currently there are two available passes to the opponent’s RF and the ST, so if we cover one of the passing lanes, then the other will be open. So the best decision here is to step and press towards the ball to close down the angle of the passes and put pressure on the opponent.
Question 4
Solution: Option B The opponent has triggered a CM for a run so this is the main danger. Pressing the ball (Option A) is not the best idea. As we’re too far away from the opponent to close him down well, and a good opponent could easily dribble around us to find a new passing angle or play a pass into the central ST’s feet for a first time pass in behind our CM (who’s pushed up). Dropping our CM straight backwards towards goal (Option C) covers the passing lane however dropping our CM so deep here opens up space in front of the ball carrier and allows him to dribble forwards without pressure and gets him closer to goal. Moving our CM sideways using the jockey (Option B) is the best option here as we can cover the immediate pass if the opponent choose to play the pass to feet early, but also we’re in a position that if the opponent doesn’t pass straight away and waits for his player to run more in behind, we still have time to reposition our CM again.
Question 5
Solution: Option B We can see the opponent turn inside on their first touch and is in a position to play a pass to the ST. So it’s too late to put pressure on the ball (Option A) as there’s a good chance the pass will go right past us. Moving our CM inside using the jockey is the best (Option B) as it gives us the best chance to intercept an early pass to the ST. Dropping our CM backwards towards the CB (Option C) is too passive of an option and the opponent can still play a pass by calling the ST short, otherwise the opponent now has space to dribble into.
Question 6
Solution: Option A The opponent’s CM is receiving the ball facing the ST, so he’s able to make an early pass within 1-2 touches. Since the distance we’re trying to move our player is also large we don’t have enough time to cover the space using jockey (Option C) or even sprint jockey (Option B). So sprinting (Option A) downwards will get us into the position to intercept the ball. (Note: you can see in this example I transition from Sprint to normal jockey, once I’m in the passing lane, so I can slow down and don’t shoot past the position I want to be.)
Question 7
Solution: Option A We want to use the jockey movement mechanic, since it’s a small distance we’re moving our CM. The jockey movement also helps us with retaining possession of the ball after the interception if the opponent plays the pass. When a sprint jockey or sprint could see the ball bouncing away.
Question 8
Solution: Option A There is a lot of ground that we have to cover with our CM to get into a position where we can intercept the ball. So using the sprint button (Option A) is the best option here.
Question 9
Solution: Option A 2nd man press will put pressure on the ball which we close down the ST. And we win the interception with our LB making the 2nd man press.
Question 10
Solution: Option B Partial team press is great here because the 2 main threats in the box get man marked momentarily even when the opponent continues to dribble down the line looking for new passing angles. During partial team press we’re also able to manually control our CB and force the opponent into making the pass which we end up intercepting.
Question 11
Solution: Option B+C Intercept playstyle increases reach and improves chances of retaining possession of the ball when performing interceptions. And Jockey playstyle increases max speed of the sprint jockey and improves transition speed from jockey to sprint.
