How to defend wing attacks and cutbacks

FC 24 can sometimes feel like a cutback simulator. It is nearly impossible to stop the pacy wingers from breaking through a couple of times each match. So it is important that you know how to defend against the cutbacks after that to stop conceding easy goals.

Key takeaways of this lesson:

  • In order to defend cutbacks concistently, you need to follow a 3 step protocol
  • Step 1: Defend the easy and most obvious passing option
  • Step 2: Attack the ball and put pressure on the opponent. Don't let him run through on the byline. Instead try to tackle when you get the chance. If you're not in reach for a tackle, you can use shoulder challenges instead.
  • Step 3: To make sure you are still covering the passing options inside the box while you go aggressive towards the ball, use partial team press. You activate this by double tapping R1/RB and holding it on the second tap.
  • If you follow these three steps and develop a feeling for how they work together in order to take away every single option from the opponent, you are going to be able to successfully defend cutbacks more more often!
