Key takeaways for this lesson:

  • In this lesson we focus on the closed dribbling. This is a style of dribbling with the left stick at which we use our body to protect and shield the ball from the opponent. Key for this is to observe from which side the opponent tries to get to the ball and absorb the pressure.
  • This dribbling is crucial for your build-up as it allows you to outplay at least one opponent which gives you more freedom, saftey and opportunities in your build-up and chance creation.
  • In order to get comfortable and experienced with this kind of dribbling, we suggest the following steps to train it.

Training steps:

  1. Go to the Practice Arena to just dribble around the pitch with different players to learn how your player converts your input on the pitch.
  2. Go to the Skill Games and play the following scenarios: Dribbling Maze, Gate Rush, Under Control, Inside The Zone Dribbling. Only use left stick dribbling, no other dribbling technique.
  3. Play a kick off or Squad Battles match against the CPU on a lower difficulty (semi-pro to world class).
  4. Play matches against humans. Either find a training partner or start with friendlies and rivals games.
